Taroudant is often called the “Grandmother of Marrakesh”: an ochre-walled city of shaded squares, craft workshops and a characterful souk.
The Berber souk is full of spices, dried fruits, textiles and household goods. The Arab souk specialises in local craft: terracotta, wrought iron, copper, leather, carpets, rugs and jewellery. Mohamed can guide first-time visitors or leave you to discover it at your own pace.

Taroudant sits between four remarkable landscapes: the High Atlas to the north, the Anti-Atlas to the south and the Atlantic coast to the west. To the east, the road through Ouarzazate and the Drâa Valley leads towards the Sahara, with Zagora and M’Hamid among its desert gateways.

Argan oil is one of southern Morocco’s golden treasures, traditionally pressed from the kernels of the native argan tree. As you explore the countryside, look up—you may even spot the region’s famously sure-footed goats balanced among the branches.
